Convert hectares, pogons, ares and jugers to square meters and vice versa
In Romania, the most commonly used unit of measurement for agricultural or other land areas is the hectare. But there are situations where you will find names such as: “pogon”, “are”, “Transylvanian juger”, “cadastral juger”, etc. for the land measurement unit.
All of these are units of measurement for area.
For a simple and quick calculation, you can approximate that one pogon is equal to 1/2 hectare (1 pogon = 0.5 hectares). In reality, based on the law for the application of the Metric System of weights and measures, adopted in Romania on February 28, 1875, one pogon = 4.98 hectares.
Use the calculators below to convert pogons, ares or jugers into meters and hectares.
